It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The top summits have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and once went over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a side that has won it all.

That it took up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's challenging for their batsmen to hold a record if never given the chance.

In the end, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to create her newest gem.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have come from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fail again.

If this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Many contend the argument supporting championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was considerably tougher to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it was a disappointing period because it appeared I've had no rhythm completely," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive nature kick in and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and after that the right-hander was on her way.

"An opportunity to take the field and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was removed the team needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the confidence to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if necessary, we know we can do it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this championship want to hear.

In recent days a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this triumph coming after success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she later said she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

But while she later admitted those injuries have postponed thoughts of retirement, this championship is likely to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as skipper.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
